Today we are going to talk about your USP, also known as ‘unique selling proposition.’ This is industry jargon for what your business stands for. The key to effectively selling yourself and your products is marketing what makes your business unique, when you try to be known for everything, you won’t become known for anything. To start off you need to answer a few questions:
- What is your business known for?
- What separates your business from you competition?
- What sets your business apart?
A great USP will require a lot of soul searching and creativity. If you can pinpoint what makes your business special it will make it much easier to target your efforts, both online and offline. It is important to identify exactly what your business is GOOD at doing. In doing this you will become known for your unique qualities and stand out from the crowd. In order to achieve this step you will need look at things from a customer perspective. You can’t be the lowest price and offer luxurious features, you can’t be the quality leader and have the lowest prices. This is simply unbelievable from a consumer aspect.
