Hey we made it to step 2! If you missed step one you can find it here! Today we are going to focus on keyword research! There are a couple of things you need to know about keyword research, first, keyword research can be a very long and boring process. Second, keyword research is on of the most important part of your online strategy!
Lets start things off with what exactly keywords are: Keywords are simply words that people type into Google when they are searching a topic. This also applies to a string of words someone might type.
The overall purpose behind keyword research it help identify keywords that have: Enough search volume to make them worth going after; and not to much competition that rankings for them would be extremely difficult.
Here is an example of two keywords with a very similar amount of results indexed by Google. “auto body shop” is increasing in popularity among searches while auto body repair is remaining stagnant. This provides a great look into the future for where to place your money among keywords.
Auto body repair – About 91,200,000 results
Auto body shop – About 87,800,000 results
Obviously, this is not a mountain you want to climb; this is where the power of good keyword research comes in.
“auto collision repair” is another term that has been growing in popularity over the last few years, but only has 6,790,000 results in Google. An option that has much less competition and a lower cost per click.
